Out of sheer boredom, Orison had pushed all her furniture into the bay window of her meeting room. After Kiltar had left the day before, she had been testing the Faunettaâs Atlasâdiscovering that it had more abilities than just showing her places she desired to visit. It could also play music from those lands. She set the atlas to play the drumbeats from her travels to Parndore with the Fire Singers. It didnât take long for her to get engrossed in the music and recreate the fire dance. Closing her eyes, Orison skipped around her chambers and spun into a pirouette. Her chambers dissipated and she was blissfully back in Parndore with the Fire Singers.
She had created her own world. The suffocating circumstances of her chambers quickly dissipated. This large plateau was her place of solace. Orison was a Fire Singerâspinning tendrils of flames around her feet and hands as she swayed to the music. A smile spread across her face. Her brief reprieve was torn away when the music stopped abruptly, like a smothered candle. Blinking a few times to become accustomed to her chambers again, Orison was confronted by Taviar and Riddle. Both men had stern expressions and their arms were crossed.
âWe need to talk to you,â Riddle said calmly with a hint of strictness; the Faunettaâs Atlas in his hand. âWe know what youâve been doing.â
Orison pouted, running her foot over the cold stone of her chambers. âI donât know what youâre talking about.â
Taviar approached her, staring into her eyes. She backed away when she felt him brush against the shield in her mind. âPlease donât lie, we are all Mindelates.â She looked at the floor. âWe know youâve been making Yil and Zade instigate the kingâs recent ailments.â
âYouâre an adult. You should know better, Ori,â Riddle pointed out, putting his hand on his hip. She knew he meant business because his sleeves were rolled up.
She looked at him. âIâm sorry, Iâm just so irate.â
âWe understand youâre mad, we do. Nobody wants this.â Riddle gestured to her chambers. âBut we donât want our sons growing up thinking this is okay, or that itâs how we deal with situations. Theyâll end up in the dungeons, Orison, if theyâre caught. Please stop this, leave it for the adults to deal with, theyâre just children.â He gave her a pleading look. She loathed how much she had broken their trust, with her hunger for vengeance. âWill you?â
âOkay, today was the last one.â
Riddle held his arms out and smiled. She allowed him to embrace her. âWe love you, sweets. Just donât want to see any of us get hurt.â Gripping his shirt tighter, Orison savoured his comforting embrace. He pulled away slightly to hand the atlas back to her. âAt least you have this for an escape. Thatâs something, right?â
She beamed as she held the atlas to her chest. He pushed her hair behind her ear and kissed the top of her head. Orison looked down at the globe in her hand, while forming a plan that didnât involve the twins.
